Hey there! I’m Taunia.

And I’m so thrilled you’re here wanting to learn more about me! As a child, I grew up on a family farm in central Illinois, and for a long time, I took for granted all that I’d learned about growing and preparing food. To me, it was normal to grow your own food and to cook everything from scratch. I also took for granted how easy it was for me to stay trim and healthy! When I turned 35, I started to notice how much harder it was for me to lose weight. I’d gone through a divorce in my late 20s, and had actually lost weight then, but by the time I reached my mid-thirties, I was working a stressful job, traveling a lot for that job and eating a lot of meals out. I’d developed GERD, IBS, high cholesterol, and had gained 50 pounds and 4 dress sizes. I was depressed, moody and spent most of my days running to the bathroom with an upset stomach. I didn’t know what to do. My physician thought I should take medication for the cholesterol, but I really didn’t want to start taking daily medications at 35. So I decided to figure out a solution that didn’t involve medication, and that was the start of my plant-based journey. At first, I was intimidated–I loved cheese! But I quickly found dairy substitutes that allowed me to feel as though I were eating dairy, while keeping dairy out of my diet. After 6 months of following a plant-based diet, my cholesterol was back to normal. And all it took was listening to my body, changing the foods I ate, and destressing a bit. It then occurred to me how many people in the world could benefit from healthier foods and slight changes in their diets. Changes that don’t leave them feeling deprived, but that enhance their everyday life. I started to dig into this and soon enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I studied over 100 dietary theories, contemporary health issues, and Eastern and Western nutrition. While there, I learned from some of the top professionals, including Dr. Mark Hyman, Deepak Chopra, David Wolfe and Kris Carr. And now (as you may have read on the homepage), I’m here to teach you how to give your body what it craves and how to do it in the most healthy, efficient way. If you’re here, then you’re most likely interested in taking better care of yourself and you’re probably interested in learning some tips and tricks to make it easier, too. Whether you’re looking to reduce stress or trying to figure out how to fit healthy living into your busy day-to-day schedule, you’re in the right place and you’re in good hands. I have been where you are, and I’m here to tell you that there is a solution and that I can help. Let’s get you healthy again!
